Mai Deet is the portrait of Gérard Omnès Coupa, a fisherman in Brittany, France, who gave up his passion.
In 1991, Jacques Mellick, the French socialist Fisheries Minister, conceived a political measure in order to react to the crisis that was disturbing the whole field, so as the whole industrial world.
Like many others, Gérard get the chance of this subdsidy to get out of a financial situation that had become unbearable.
In transition, Serbia is seeking to reconstruct itself, taking more developped countries as models.

The signs that tends towards the West are visible. Numerous paradoxes are its results. The idea of an Europe that progresses is expressed. Thoses visions, more the fact that the borders are hardly surmountable, have the consequence that meeting the people from the outside is rarely face to face.

What is the idea of Europe? What are the desires and the expectations resulting from this idea?

BALKAN CAGE
MEETING YVES METTLER
October 2008.

The new European Union Immigration and Asylum Pact is adopted. Many citizens movements condemn the official approval of security politics such as detention centers or forced returns.
As I am about to make a video on it, a friend tells me her sister and brother-in-law had a strange experience at the Spanish airport customs when they returned from Senegal.
In his art works, Yves Mettler, a Swiss artist living in Berlin, deciphers the public space architectonic significances. "Europaplatz" is one his work. He has travelled from Berlin, Germany to Calais, France, seeking and studying the Europe places in the different towns he has gone through.

Strong desire, but painful truth. It is the feeling that the people from the Balkan's share, while being locked within the Balkan borders and wondering if they will ever have the opportunity to share their values. We, the people from the Balkans, are thirsty for exploration and meeting new cultures, expanding our point of view, and share the common ideals, with the rest of the continent. BalKan Cage is a screaming video which very fast got popularity. The video trigger the state officials to consider the video in the country's efforts for visa liberalization.
